As with most things in life, ideas come from a little bit of science and a little bit of art… The Creative Toolbox is inspired by the therapeutic benefits of the creative process backed by research that supports its value.
Renowned educator Sir Ken Robinson addressed the importance of nurturing creativity in his iconic TED Talk, "Do Schools Kill Creativity?" He lamented how traditional education systems often stifle rather than cultivate our innate creative capacities, despite ample evidence demonstrating the pivotal role of creativity in fostering innovation, cognitive growth, and academic success.
At its heart, The Creative Toolbox embraces the positive impact of creativity on our mental health. We understand that the creative process—whether through drawing, writing, music, drama, clay, sculpting, dance, or movement—is a powerful tool for exploring and processing our emotions and experiences that are often too hard to convey in words.
At The Creative Toolbox, our mission is clear: to equip families with the resources and skills to infuse more creativity into their lives. Our creative learning modules are designed for different age groups starting with school age children - empowering them to explore different creative modalities and discover what resonates with them early on in life. By filling their metaphorical "creative toolboxes" with lifelong skills, we aim to provide them with invaluable tools to navigate life's challenges and support their mental health.
Beyond this, The Creative Toolbox is more than just a resource or a service —it's a community. Through our social platforms, events, and courses, we foster a space where families can come together to learn and create. Our goal is to serve as both a proactive and supportive resource for our community, teaching the value of therapeutic art so our mental health not only survives but thrives.
